Greendale Physical Therapy began not in Worcester where the corporate office is now located, but in Shrewsbury at what was the Family Fitness Center (now World Gym), and it was originally called Shrewsbury Physical Therapy. Prior to starting the business, the founder Jon Dooley, MSPT practiced at various outpatient orthopedic physical therapy practices on the South Shore and in Washington State. He began his practice with the simple philosophy of providing the highest level of service and physical therapy care to its patients. After just a few years in the Shrewsbury location, the practice grew and expanded to its second location at the Greendale Mall, and it was called Greendale Physical Therapy. Having two names created some challenges with insurance companies, so Jon decided to unify the two locations under one name in order to be properly reimbursed by the insurance companies, and he chose the name Greendale Physical Therapy.
In the next few years Greendale established itself as a leader in physical medicine in Central Massachusetts. The Worcester location was the first clinic in Central Massachusetts to combine a physical therapy and chiropractic clinic. Jon Dooley and Dr. Peter Viteritti were chosen to be part of the medical staff for the 2004 Rock and Roll Gymnastics tour, featuring members of the 2004 Olympic Gymnastics team. Greendale became involved in many community organizations and activities including Operation Wounded Warrior and Worcester Wildcats football. More recently Greendale Physical Therapy has been a leader in the clinical education of its team. It added an unprecedented educational program for its therapists with the launch of Greendale Physical Therapy "U" and Training Day educational programs which has helped its team keep with its mission to provide a high level of service and physical therapy care.
Greendale Physical Therapy has continued to grow adding experienced therapists as practice managers, including Matthew Haley, at the Woburn location, and Wayne Penniman, at the Clinton location. Greendale Physical Therapy and its team continue to focus on the goal of taking care of every patient as if he or she were an Olympic Athlete.
